IMAGINING MORE RELEVANT, EQUITABLE, AND EFFECTIVE SCHOOLS IN A POST-COVID WORLD
The Spring Learning Series in April 2021 introduced Highlander Institute’s Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Pedagogy (CRSP) Framework - an approach for instructional equity grounded in anti-racist, personalized practices that is at the center of our school redesign efforts. Session participants explored strategies to support the development of equitable, relevant, and effective schools with teachers, leaders, and community stakeholders.

While we did not have the opportunity to share at our annual in-person conference in 2020 or 2021, we designed the free Spring Learning Series to showcase the momentum, hope, resilience, and spirit of continuous improvement we've witnessed during the most complex school years of our lifetimes. We were incredibly energized by the connections educators in this virtual space made to our CRSP framework, key leadership moves from our change management process, and data stories for co-constructing changes that are scalable and sustainable. Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the live sessions, ask questions, and share your feedback about what resonated for you throughout the 3-part event:
- "Today was a time for me to validate and reflect upon the collaboration that I have with Highlander Institute. I am so proud of the work that my school has embarked upon. I was excited to connect with colleagues within my district and state. I look forward to growing what I have learned and sharing my current knowledge with colleagues."
- "As with every Highlander Institute session, there is a wealth of information and resources that are shared. The session is well-paced, relevant, practical and visionary. The resources that are shared provide a rich array of follow-up information to explore, digest and adopt. The presenters are engaging, articulate and welcoming. It is impressive how your professional learning opportunities are so well envisioned, conceived and constructed. Your agency continues to have a significant impact on the quality of teaching and learning."
As we begin to see some light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, we are excited about what the future can bring. Be sure to check out the recap materials below.
